I have been involved in the online marketing industry for over 5 years now and have seen just about all the scams come and go. I have also been able to educate myself on which companies are scams and which are legitimate companies that you can actually earn cash with.

Today I wanted to take you thru 10 of the biggest myths that people still believe about paid surveys and also the truths that can assist you to earn extra cash.

Myth #1: You can become wealthy beyond your wildest dreams by completing surveys online.

The reality is that you can earn a few hundred dollars per week by completing surveys and focus groups. Paid Surveys will not make you filthy rich but they will supplement your income.

Myth #2: Paid survey sites are all scams.

If you are new to the paid survey game I know exactly how you feel. You join survey sites only to be sent spam emails but you never receive a paid survey. The trick is to know which companies are legitimate and which are not.

Myth #3. Joining paid survey sites will end up with your email address full of spam.

Once again this is true if you only manage to join the scam sites. However, this is simply not true in the case of legitimate companies who will only send you invites to complete surveys for cash.

Myth #4: The only way to find legitimate companies is to pay for a list.

If you are willing to invest your time and do the research you can build your own list of legitimate paid survey companies. For most people this is a huge undertaking as doing a background search on each company to ensure they are legitimate will take days if not weeks. If you want the quick road then purchasing a list isn’t a bad option. I advise that you find an information source you trust and purchase their list. Do not buy from anyone who doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee.

Myth #5: You can get away with submitting false details to the survey site.

This may work once or twice but the legitimate survey companies are becoming smarter and know when you are not completing a survey properly. They throw in trick questions to make sure you are reading, they add timers on the page to make sure you are not rushing. At the end of the day, a human will look at your response and if they feel that you have tried to cheat them you will lose your account and any income earned. Be truthful and remember there is no such thing as free money. The survey companies are paying for your opinion so give it to them and in return, you will get paid.

Myth #6: You need to be an internet guru in order to figure the paid survey industry out.

This is simply not true as I know many people from all walks of life that make money with paid surveys. If you can surf the internet and you have an opinion you can make money with paid surveys. I understand it might take others a little longer than others but if you take the time to educate yourself it will be a lot easier. ‘

Myth #7: Paid surveys only pay very small amounts.

It is true that some surveys only pay $0.20 for completing a survey but on the other end of the scale, you can be invited to complete surveys for over $100. You need to be able to take the good with the bad, The more effort you put the more you are likely to receive back.

Myth #8: Paid surveys rarely pay cash.

To be honest, there are many different incentives that paid survey companies to use to get people to complete online surveys, some include rewards, bonuses, great deals, and extra incentives. I have completed a survey before where I received free washing powder for a month and then gave my feedback. While I agree that this is not cash, I did receive over $10 worth of washing powder and the survey only took me 5 minutes. Yes, the surveys that pay cash are great but don’t turn your nose up at the other types of incentives you can earn.

Myth #9: You can succeed with being a member of only one legitimate paid survey company.

Whilst I agree that you should stay loyal to each legitimate paid survey company you will need to be a member of multiple sites before you are earning a few hundred a weeks. Most professional survey takers are members of 10 – 20 legitimate companies and receive multiple survey invites per day.

Myth #10: Paid survey companies prefer experienced survey takers.

This is absolutely false! Survey companies are trying to get the opinion of the wider community in relation to particular subjects and products. If they simply sort the opinions of professional survey takers they would not have a very good sample of the population.

Myth #11: If I join a paid survey company I will receive annoying sales calls.

The only calls I receive from legitimate market research companies are calls to see if I am going to qualify for a survey. If I am in their target market that they wish to survey they will invite me to take a paid survey or attend a focus group. If you go around the internet plugging your number into every scam site on the net you will receive annoying sales calls. Be smart and only join sites you trust.

As you can see you can make money with paid surveys but you need to be smart about it. Learn how to protect yourself from scams and join as many legitimate companies as possible.
